Yahoo Buzz is now open

For all those people who have been anticipating for the public release of Yahoo! Buzz, Yahoo! has finally opened doors. Now you can add your site, however small it may be, to Buzz and get it Buzzed up or down.

For people, who have no idea about what I am talking about Y!Buzz is Yahoo!'s new product which is seemingly like a social bookmarking with a taste of Digg.Though Yahoo! already has a very successful social bookmarking in the name of delicious, it has long been used only as a personal bookmarking system. There is no way of voting on posts in it.Buzz is a lot different approach compared to Delicious. It takes care of lot of web2.0 details, which Yahoo has been ignoring long since, and made such that it drives a lot of traffic to the sites. It's similar to digg in voting style. Here instead of digging an article you have to buzz up an article. You also have the advantage of sharing your Buzz! updates with your friends on messenger which could drive even more traffic to your site. Yahoo! Buzz could be your potential traffic driver.
Yahoo Buzz! provides you with some of those cool buttons like those of digg which you can put on your blogger, wordpress blogs and other sites etc.Watch out this page to grab your Buzz buttons. And please don't forget to buzz up my entry :)

Share your updates with friends

Yahoo has got a very nice feature called "Vitality" , that enables to share your updates. This feature, relatively a new one, enables you to share most of your recent activity on Yahoo!'s properties. Though this is not enabled to all Yahoo! properties, you can soon expect to be available to all its properties. Also the feature is very barebones now and I would like to see it to be a bit more sophisticated.Presently, you can enable any updates to be shared or not.It doesn't give option to share with some of your friends and not to other. The best advantage of this is all your messenger friends can see your updates in a nicely presented format.I would recommend you all to share your updates with friends unless you are addicted to some of those highly(+18 :P) rated stuff.

Something for Everything by Yahoo and Google

Yahoo and Google are the forerunners for the internet revolution. These companies have a large number of services to offer and the number has become so large and varied that users can't really keep track of them. What I can say is that only Yahoo and Google together(though barred from the search) can solve all your internet needs.

Be it educational, you can refer to Yahoo! Education or Google Scholar. If your needs are technical, then you can refer to Yahoo Answers and the old Google Answers. There are also Google and Yahoo groups to discuss among yourselves. For communicating you have the messenger and mail services from them. For the earning you also have Yahoo Publisher Network and Google Adsense. For marketing and business you have their advertisement and business hosting kind of services. For networking you have Orkut and Yahoo! 360.You have photo sharing in the form of Flickr and Picasa. Likewise, there's somewthing for everything.

But, the users find lot of difficulty in realizing all of their services.Though, Yahoo has a site for Everything @ Yahoo, Google lacks in providing a page of that kind. There are some attempts by the fans of Google. I also had craeted one page Googlinx with all of Google services, but it's largely unupdated.Even Yahoo's Everything page lacks in the description part.I hope these companies make some effort in providing users with a startup kind of page with all the details of the services offered by both the comapnies.I know it's a difficult task but still I would wish for it.After all, the users should know what is their in store for them.May be those pages could serve as the startup pages fpor internet Newbies :P

Mozilla Concept-Series Ideas-PART 1(History Timeline)

I could be a freaking idiot to make my first post on this blog be related to Mozilla one of my other favorites instead of something related to Yahoo! or Google. But I am an IDIOT.So I have put up some of my ideas for the Mozilla's concept-series for their next browser release.First of all, my ideas would be mostly concentrated on usability enhanced interface(UEI)[Ok, I framed the term] , instead of on UI.So may not be most of my requirements are of hi-fi 3-D level. This explains my first idea.

History Timeline:

Future Firefox History Timeline

  • The history could be on a time-line which is kind of like a dock.
  • It should be less resource intensive.
  • The look is kind of like the above(I suck at graphics,so bear with me).
  • The timeline will be accessible with arrow keys, scroll wheel or even pressing on those arrow keys. The speed should be configurable.
  • The centred item should be larger than the others. There should be a text label below the favicon displaying the title of the site.
  • There should be option to see the list in timeline(like the last accessed to the extreme left) or in alphabetical order for the specified time range(like today, yesterday, last week)
  • Also the search box should enable searching of the history and show the matching agin on time line.
  • If the favicon is not available,a default Icon could be displayed. The Icon should be having the Site Title on it so as to differentiate the Icons.
